while living in santa fe, one of my favorite pastimes was perusing estate sales. many of the furnishings in our house are from santa fe estate sales, but one of our best finds was an old movie projector and a collection of home movies from the 50s. the movies were breathtaking - the colors, the motion, the brevity of shots at a time when film was precious. beautiful images of a baby's first steps, of holidays past, of alaskan cruises, and disneyland adventures - all silent save for the click click clicking of the projector. i cried upon watching the movies. they were so stirring that, with a friend's help, ian sought out the family so we could give the home movies back to them. we did score and get to keep this family's old slide projector and slides. we pulled the collection out on a rainy day and marveled at the pictures on the screen. they are beautiful photos not of people, but of places - slides of travels in a europe that no longer exists.
it made me long for prague, for europe, for the past. and it made me grateful that we have travel in our future.

i married ian ingram in sayulita, mexico 5 years ago today. i am still stunned that i get to be his wife.
ian and i contemplated marriage for years before taking the leap. i am forever happy that we leapt. because writing our vows altered us. it forced us to search our hearts for the meaning of marriage. it required us to explore and share with each other our ideas and expectations of love. creating our vows allowed us to consider what we wanted to promise and what we believed we really could promise. here is what we came up with.
Wedding Vows
-I promise to move creatively through stillness and change with love as the constant.
-I promise to honor the evolution of that love.
-I promise to honor your individuality, to cherish your dreams, and to help you follow them, knowing that your self-exploration is key to our love. I know the same is true for myself.
-I promise to indulge in and share with you life’s rapturous wonders.
-I promise to walk through fears together.
-I promise to accept and love your family as my own.
-I promise to be humbled by our divinity and to find the poetry in our humanity.
-I promise to love you forever and to allow that love to illuminate the potential to love all the world, all life.

i caught koruna whistling this morning. 
today is rooster's last day of preschool this year. ian and i got to attend a school ceremony celebrating koruna yesterday that inspired us both. i LOVE LOVE LOVE her school.
now here comes summer....
