i love it when women start brilliant, successful businesses. i especially love it when those women are my friends. i've got a friend named caroline freedman. she's beautiful, talented, lovely and she started a company called NurturMe that makes unbelievably good baby food.
i made a lot of koruna's baby food. i didn't dig the idea of bland jarred stuff so i cooked, pureed, and froze all sorts of veggies in ice trays - beets were a fave. then i popped 'em out, thawed them and served 'em up. NurturMe became available somewhere in that crazy time period and i was so glad to have that colorful, healthy food to add to the mix. i know, it doesn't seem like any baby food could be good, but ian and i have eaten all the flavors (actually i haven't tried peas because i HATE peas) and we actually like the taste. organic, earth friendly (they use recyclable cartons made with wind energy), and nutritious (quick dried so they retain more nutrients), you can add the packets to breastmilk, water, yogurt, cottage cheese, anything. koruna is one and a half years old and still loves 'em.
caroline is up for a Mompreneur award. i encourage any parents out there to buy NurturMe and try it out on your babes. if you dig it as much as i do, you can vote for caroline at http://www.babble.com/mom/work-family/best-moms-entrepreneurship-how-to-start-a-business-with-baby-nominate/index.aspx
i respect caroline. i'm proud of caroline. and i'm grateful to caroline for making mamahood a little easier on me.
