  9. I open the bottom drawer to a tall chest in our living room, Koruna looks in and sees the collection of brush animal ornaments, she visibly brightens, scoots closer, and brings each one out and sets it down on the floor, naming them one by one:

“Rabbit, raccoon, fox, squirrel thisonesred, squirrel thisonesbrown, owl, porcupine, what’s this…”

    That’s a skunk.

    “…what’s this one?”

    That’s a beaver.

    “…what’s this”"

    That’s a bear.

    “No, it’s a panda bear.”

Then she puts them all back in the drawer, one by one, naming them all, including the two new names she’d learned 20 seconds earlier. Or did she know the names all along, and was simply testing me for my pitiful 2 out of 3. The 2 1/2 year old teacher gives the 65 year old student an F.

Jeri Lynn, I don’t know how you and Ian fit all you do into one day, but THANK YOU for photographing and posting these faces and fingers, I “love ‘em” too!
